the importance of art in our lives

“Research indicates that a child who is exposed to the arts acquires a special ability to think creatively,

be original, discover, innovate, and create intellectual property—

key attributes for individual success and social prosperity in the twenty-first century.”

International Child Art Foundation

artskiddoo is...

a studio space where students can explore different art media in class sizes small enough for plenty of individual attention (8 students or less). Besides learning to draw and paint, children can create artwork for competitions, learn about humanities, or simply develop fine motor skills.

I have started artskiddoo to inspire our youth to create art and design, and to share information about art masters and graphic designers. My background includes

an MFA in Graphic Design,

decades of print design work, and

the launch & instruction of the Meet the Masters art curriculum

at Park Village Elementary from 2006-2014.

Art benefits kids because it...

Develops their language skills

Improves their decision making abilities

Promotes creativity and helps them connect unrelated ideas

Enhances their fine motor skills

Increases their ability to interpret and utilize visual Information

Develops inventiveness by taking risks and expressing themselves

Increases their cultural awareness

Creates self-awareness and a better understanding the world around them

Helps them to connect with others

Boosts their self-confidence

Improves their academic performance

In fact, children involved in the arts typically earn higher grades, are more likely to attain a bachelor’s degree and become more engaged in their community.
